COVID-19 and THE DIOCESE of HAMILTON
For all kinds of regulations regarding COVID-19
The official position of the Catholic Church is that all available COVID vaccines are ethical and all Catholics who are able are encouraged to receive the vaccine. All employees serving in the Diocese of Hamilton are encouraged to be fully vaccinated or to submit to a COVID rapid test every Monday and Thursday in order to carry out their responsibilities. Volunteer liturgical ministers are required to be fully vaccinated. Bishop Douglas Crosby, OMI, encourages every member of the Catholic Church within our Diocese of Hamilton to be fully vaccinated.
Flu, Cold, or COVID-19?
To further protect Ontarians as the province continues to confront the Delta-driven fourth wave of the COVID-19, the government, in consultation with the Chief Medical Officer of Health, will require people to be fully vaccinated and provide proof of their vaccination status to access certain businesses and settings starting September 22, 2021.
Requiring proof of vaccination in these settings reduces risk and is an important step to encourage every last eligible
Ontarian to get their shot, which is critical to protecting the province’s hospital capacity, while also supporting businesses
with the tools they need to keep customers safe, stay open and minimize disruptions.
As of now the Ontario government is not requiring individuals to show proof of vaccination to attend Mass, but all Parishes should check with your local Public Health Unit to see if they have mandated additional safety measures such as proof of vaccination.
